Wow – Cincinnati’s recycling program has really taken off! In 2011, nearly 19,000 tons of recycled waste did not go into a landfill. There was a result from a 70% increase in recycling efforts from eligible Cincinnati households.
Last year, Cincinnati replaced its recycling bins with larger rolling bins. These new containers created space for 31% more recycling of paper, metal, glass and plastic.
What can be recycled?
- Plastic bottles/jugs, collapsed and with lids screwed back on
- Glass jars and bottles
- Aluminum/steel cans
- Empty aerosol cans with lids/tips removed
- Cardboard broken down to 3′x3′ sections
- Paper products (office paper, newspapers, magazines, junk mail and envelopes)
