A majority of the home owners (77%) planned to open their kitchen to other rooms. The kitchen does not need to be bigger, just more open.

Granite

Color – Keep it Conservative
75% of home owners prefer soft, neutral colors for walls and decor.

Style of Kitchen
Younger home owners desire contemporary styles and people 55+ prefer traditional-style kitchens.

Floors
Hardwood floors are the most popular followed by tile.

Eco-Friendly
Almost half of those surveyed would like to have eco-friendly appliances and materials in their kitchens.

No Matchy Matchy
Home owners prefer mixing materials. Many prefer having a kitchen island made of one material and counter tops made of another. Home owners like having some stainless steel appliances mixed with appliances made of other finishes.
