The Ohio Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, Ohio will be held October 11 and 12, 2014 and will be featuring 450+ vendors along with a weekend of fun.

Downtown Waynesville will be offering all kinds of sauerkraut treats from pizza, fudge, donuts, cookies and pie. If you are not a lover of sauerkraut, rest assured there will be some non-kraut goodies to eat, too.

This festival has been in place since 1970 when the local merchants planned a sidewalk sale and served a sauerkraut dinner, too.

Seven tons of sauerkraut will be served to 350,000 people at this event.

What is sauerkraut?
Translated from German as “sour cabbage”, it is finely cut, fermented cabbage.
