Sibcy Cline Kenwood’s real estate agents donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) station to the McDonald Commons Park in Madeira. This AED will be available for public use.

Stephanie Sudbrack-Busam, Vice President/Sales Manager of the Kenwood office, says, “If a person has a sudden cardiac arrest, this AED will double the chance of that person’s survival. Cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the United States. It can happen at any time to anyone. By installing the AED at the park, our hope is to give someone a chance to live.”

Adds Jennifer Lukey Shinn, Co-Vice President/Sales Manager, “Our 90 agents feel it is really important to support our nearby communities and hope this donation will give Madeira residents peace of mind.”

At the AED dedication ceremony, Nancy Spencer, Madeira Vice Mayor reported the McDonald Commons Park is a very active place from morning until dusk. Many residents use the park for morning walks or runs followed by play-group sessions, sports practice as well as pickle-ball and baseball games. Hopefully the new AED will not need to be used, but is there to save lives just in case.

Steve Shaw, Madeira Chamber of Commerce president also welcomed the new AED system.

Mark Johnson, Director of the Christ Hospital Heart Restart Project shared CPR tips as well as advice on using the AED. As a former 30-year firefighter, he expressed the importance of having the device nearby in case of a heart emergency.

Sibcy Cline Kenwood has a yearly philanthropic program raising funds to support local organizations and charities. This year they felt “Realtors with Heart” was an opportunity to contribute to the greater community. The Sibcy Cline Kenwood agents have donated over $160,000 locally since the inception of their charity fundraising in 2007.

This donation was in conjunction with “Realtors with Heart“, a Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors® program that promotes community heart safety.  Headed up by Laurie Nippert Leonard, this group has trained over 2,100 people on how to use an AED as well as donated many of these life-saving devices to the community including: The Aronoff Center for the Arts, Fountain Square, Findlay Market, Krohn Conservatory, Carol Ann’s Carousel, Turner Farm, Gorman Heritage Farm, Washington Park parking garage and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Those interested in AED training should contact Realtors with Heart.
