About Sweet Soles For Love
When Julie Whitney, owner of Phillippi-Whitney Communications LLC was watching ABC World News Tonight the evening of August 26, 2014 she saw a story that made a tremendous impact on her. It was a feature about the foster children in Richmond, Virginia who had to carry all of their belongings in a black trash bag as they moved from home to home. This story motivated her to organize a luggage drive called ‘Cases For Love’ for the foster Children of Hamilton County in January, 2014. The campaign was more successful than she ever imagined.

Says Whitney, “‘Cases For Love’ was an extraordinary effort by all of the extremely passionate parties involved, and it is an understatement to say that it exceeded our expectations. Our initial goal was 1,200 suitcases, and we actually received close to 10,000, allowing us to not only serve the foster children of Hamilton County, but also those in Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. This entire effort was made possible due to the generous support of Sibcy Cline, Hamilton County Job & Family Services, University Moving and Storage, the philanthropic minded and generous citizens of our region as well as the local media, who latched onto this story and never let go.”

In 2015, Whitney and Sibcy Cline teamed up again with ‘Gloves For Love,’ an effort that provided more than 6,800 gloves, mittens, scarves and hats to area foster children.

Says Pam Sibcy, Vice President of Marketing for Sibcy Cline, “We heard about the need for a drop-off location back in 2014, and jumped on board from day one to help collect the suitcases in all of our 22 locations throughout Cincinnati, Dayton, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. But ‘Cases For Love’ and the following year ‘Gloves For Love’ became much more than a suitcase or winter gloves collection to us. Our offices became very passionate about the needs of foster children, and our 1,200 realtors started making their own fliers and personally collecting items from their clients citywide. Our collection boxes in our branch offices overflowed with donations!”

Cases For Love, a community outreach program that collected new and gently used suitcases for area foster children, has collected 5,500 suitcases!

The suitcase campaign ran from January 5 – February 14, 2015 with a goal of 1,200 suitcases. The response from the public was amazing. The community dropped off suitcases to all Sibcy Cline locations as well as Second Story Auctions in Blue Ash and University Moving and Storage in West Chester.

Sibcy Cline conference rooms were filled to their ceilings with hundreds of suitcases dropped off weekly.

How wonderful that children will now be able to move their belongings in their own suitcase. Sibcy Cline is proud and happy to have been a part of Cases For Love.

Our Thanks
We would like to thank Julie Phillippi-Whitney of Phillippi-Whitney Communications for creating Cases For Love. It was her inspiration that got the ball rolling for this community project.

University Moving and Storage Company was also a major partner with Cases For Love and picked up and stored all of the suitcases during the campaign. Mark Bruns, President of the company, reports that the suitcases filled one and a half moving trailer trucks.

Sibcy Cline’s agents were also an integral part of the suitcase campaign. They contacted their clients, friends and family for donations. Many agents volunteered to personally pick up suitcases from people’s homes.

The local media played a very important role in Cases For Love to help get the word out. All Cincinnati television stations broadcast numerous stories about the campaign, as did WLW-Radio, the Community Press, Dayton Daily News, Hamilton Journal and Cincinnati Enquirer.

Do You Have a Suitcase You Can Donate To Foster Children?

Sibcy Cline Realtors is participating in a community suitcase drive campaign called Cases For Love. The public is asked to donate new or gently used suitcases, backpacks and cosmetic cases at any Sibcy Cline location or Second Story Auctions. These cases will then be distributed to local foster children. The goal is to collect over 1,200 suitcases.

This campaign runs:
January 5 – February 14, 2015
Monday through Friday
9:00 am – 5:00 pm

How Cases For Love Began
The inspiration for the Cases For Love campaign began with Julie Phillippi-Whitney of Phillippi-Whitney Communications. In August Julie watched an ABC World News Tonight program about foster children in Richmond, Virginia who had to carry their belongings in black trash bags as they moved from home to home. She says, “What really moved me was the fact that the children stated that they themselves felt like “garbage” when they carried their possessions in a trash bag as they moved into their foster homes.”

Inspired from this show, Julie contacted local social service agencies and found that over 900 foster children with Hamilton County Job and Family Services could use a suitcase. Warm Welcomes, a foster care outreach program in Butler County, also had a need for suitcases.

She then contacted Sibcy Cline Realtors to help as a drop-off location for suitcase donations. Says Pam Sibcy, Vice President of Marketing, “Sibcy Cline embraces its role as a community partner and we are very happy to participate with Cases For Love. We hope these suitcases will help ease in the transition as well as bring comfort to the children when they move to their new homes.”

University Moving and Storage Company is another local business that has partnered with this endeavor and will be in charge of collecting suitcases from the Sibcy Cline locations as well as take suitcase donations at its West Chester location. Says Mark Bruns, president, “I love partnering with wonderful people who are doing wonderful things throughout the Greater Cincinnati community, and we are more than delighted to be a part of this endeavor that will bring happiness to so many of region’s foster children.”

Local response to Cases For Love so far has been tremendous.
