Nine Cincinnati Companies are on the Fortune 500 List for 2016

Per Fortune, the 500 companies on this year’s list represent two-thirds of the US GDP. This is the 62nd year that the magazine has created its rankings.

World’s Most Admired Companies Includes Cincinnati Businesses


Fortune magazine recently released its annual list of “World’s Most Admired Companies.” Several Cincinnati businesses made the list:

  • Procter & Gamble
  • General Electric
  • Macy’s
  • Kroger

What company ranked number one? Apple, Inc.

Cincinnati’s Kroger, Procter and Gamble and Macy’s Make the List of Top Worldwide Companies


Three Cincinnati-based companies, Kroger, Proctor & Gamble and Macy’s, made it onto the Fortune Global 500 list published on July 8, 2013. The list showcases the largest businesses across the world.

Cincinnati’s Kroger and Macy’s Make the 2013 Top 100 Retailers List


Stores Magazine has published its list of top U.S. top retailers for 2013 and two Cincinnati businesses made it to the top 20 list:

  • Kroger – #2 with $92,165,000 in U.S. sales for 2012 – Kroger started in 1883 when Barney Kroger opened a grocery store at 66 Pearl Street in downtown Cincinnati. His motto: “Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself.”
  • Macy’s – #14 with $27,610,000 in U.S. sales for 2012 – Macy’s was founded in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1851. The headquarters relocated from New York City to Cincinnati in 1994 when Macy’s merged with Federated Department Stores.

What retail company was at the top of the list? Wal-Mart based out of Betonville, Arkansas with $328,704,000 in 2012 U.S. sales.
